How to Add Rustic Decor

Can you get more rustic? One night my brother told me he found a freshly shed set in our yard. I immediately begged him to keep it for me in the garage until I came home next. I think he thought I was kidding. This is one of my favorite items to decorate with.  Currently, it’s wrapped around a few of old books (another favorite decor item) on an end table but looks fantastic as a centerpiece too. If you don’t happen to trip over freshly shed antlers often, Etsy shops have a great selection.

TIP: If you happen to be lucky and find a pair on a hike, be sure to sanitize them thoroughly before using as decor!

Nothing says woodsy quite like trees.  These are my two favorites: balsam & cedar and mahogany teakwood.

Steamer Trunks

The combination of the wood, metal accents, and the craftsmanship are unparalleled.  These are not only statement pieces but functional as well.

Pine Cones

These are the perfect touch to bring in the fall and winter season.  You can add these in baskets, around candles, in votives as centerpieces – the list goes on.

Industrial Pipe and Wood Furniture

Essentially legos for big kids. The best part of this is you can customize this down to every detail – the wood stain, the color of the pipes, the size, the type of build (bookshelf, desk, etc.), the options are endless.  When we couldn’t find a desk big enough for our needs we built one from pipes and a door (more on this in a future post).  Here is a lovely bookshelf from Design, Dining, & Diapers.
